OWH Challenges!

Hey there Bleeps!
Today's card is for the Operation write Home Sketch Challenge #57 and it fits with OWH's any occasion challenge, too. I added the ribbon, but everything else is pretty much the sketch! I tried something new with my ribbon.....I took some scrap strips of seam binding and tied them into a knot and made them 'ruffle' by pulling the strands of string....then added a button from my stash my Grandma gave me years ago. Anyways, hope you like it! Thanks so much for stopping by! and have a great day! ;)

Butterfly Sympathy Card

Hey there Bleeps!
Today's card isn't one you like to make....but sometimes it has to be done. My husband's uncle isn't doing well.....they have called hospice in and pretty much said it could be anytime now. So, I thought I'd make a card, so that way when he does pass.....we can just mail it out....since they live out of state. I know it's part of life.....we are only here for a moment....but it never gets easy seeing someone you love and care about leave. Especially, when they linger on, so hard to watch our loved ones suffer. Please keep Todd's Aunt Billie and their family in your prayers ....no matter how old they are and even though they have lived a full life, it's still hurts!
I kept the card pretty simple and started to add some ribbon.....but decided against it.....hope you like it.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend ;)

  1. Cardstocks: Crumb Cake,VV and BB
  2. Bliss Sale-a-bration Stamp Set and Thoughts and Prayers from IB&C

Manly Card For LNS DT!!!

Hey There Bleeps (blog peeps!)

Happy Valentine's Day!!! Today's card is for the Design Team Challenge over at Late Night Stampers. The challenge was to make masculine cards. I will be the first to admit it that this is not my strong point, I do struggle with making masculine cards! Plus, I don't own alot of manly stamps or embellishments! I think that needs to change, LOL!!!

My card also fits in with last Sunday's Sketch Challenge# 55 over at Operation Write Home. I sponged the background and each panel as well....which is something I love doing!!! Sponging is my thang, LOL!!! I also distressed the panels with the distressing tool and used an embossing folder on them to give it texture! I hope you like my card....thanks so much for stopping by and have a BLESSED week ahead! ;)

Operation Write Home Blog Skip!

Happy Saturday Bleeps! (blog peeps)

Welcome to the Blog Skip for Operation Write Home, click here to start at the beginning. If you have come from Marianne's blog, then you are in the right place! Didn't her card turn out beautiful? She has a great blog!
easel card closed

The fun of this skip it to see how everyone used the same kit in different ways! Everyone got the same package in the mail with all the goodies to play with for this blog skip!! Two stamped images and three patterned papers, how fun!
side view of easel card

I watercolored the images with SU! inks and an aqua painter. I found a video the other day which took the NEW Cupcake Punch from SU! and  used it to make some clouds, I totally think that is the cutest! So I made some for the yellow flowered card. I also added dots to the image with a SU! white gel pen and made it an easel card too! You know I love easel cards, LOL!!!

close up of clouds made with SU! cupcake punch!

The other card I used  the SU! Framed Oval Die and cut it out twice....I used last years DSP and ran the scalloped frame part through my crimping tool, then kinda pleated it around the oval. I then took some ribbon and pleated it around the DSP as well. The sentiment is from last years Sale-a-bration stamp set and the crazy shape was achieved by punching it out twice with the curly label punch! On both cards I punched out different sizes of flowers with the green patterned paper they gave us to use and nested them together.
Well, I hope you have a great time checking out all the lovely inspiration from the skip!

Now, your next stop on the skip will be the very creative Paula. She is also a sweet friend whom I've gotten to know through my SU! stamp club....so go check out her beautiful card and leave her some love!!! Her blog is always full of inspiration to motive you!
Don't forget that OWH will be having a Bunny Blog Hop on March 5th...you can sign up and see all the info by clicking here:

"On The Farm" Card

Hey There Bleeps (Blog Peeps!)
This card is for the challenge over at Operation Write Home, 'On the Farm'! This card also happens to fit in with the chicken challenge at this challenge blog, I just found....cool huh?!?!? I used a retired Stampin' Up! stamp set and I paper pieced the egg. I cut little slits up the ribbon and just pulled out the fibers to give it that shredded look, although....I'm not sure how this is supposed to be mailed, LOL!!! Might be too bulky, maybe the ribbon can be folded down when mailing it????
I've been trying something new and different (at least to me, or maybe I never noticed it before, LOL!) on a few of my cards lately......not sure where I saw it but, I really like the effect. I stamp the image, then sponge around the image, kinda highlighting it. Then I paper piece or water color the image on another piece of card stock and cut it out, then adhere it on top of the sponged image. I really like the outcome doing this! Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome day ;)

Card Recipe:
  1. Card stocks: Daffodil Delight, VV and Pumpkin Pie
  2. Washington Apple DSP (retired)
  3. Riding Hood Red Striped Ribbon

Shabby Flower

OK, so I was going for a shabby chic card for the sketch over at Operation Write Home. I hope I achieved it, LOL!!! How come you can't seem to get the same 'vision' of a card as well as what's in your head? It seems like it's missing something to me....just not sure what???? Here's the sketch they gave to us:

And here's my take on it:

Anyways.....remember the other day when I gave a hint to what 'news' I had, but I couldn't share it? Well, I can now, LOL!!! Did you noticed the Late Night Stampers logo button on the left side of my blog? Well, that's it....I got the word a little over a week ago that I have been chosen to be on the Design Team for LNS!!! It will last for at least 3 months....then you could have the option to keep it going after that!!! I'm soooo excited!!! I've done a few guest designs spots....but never for such a long commitment....and if you visit some of the other design team members blogs you will see why it's such an honor!!! These ladies are incredibly talented!!! Anyways, it will start on Feb 7th....I can't wait!!!
